Die struck lapel pins are manufactured using all metal or
metal with soft enamel paint. Metal die struck lapel pins are
molded using embossed and recessed portions of an image
stamped onto a copper or iron sheet. Different metals and
texturing of recessed portions of the metal are available. An
antique look can be accomplished by texturing the recessed
metal or a sparkling look can be created by sandblasting the
metal. Another option is to apply an epoxy dome for a more
finished appearance which also adds extra durability.
Once struck by the die, the impressions on the pin are cut out
to form individual pin faces. The pins can remain in that
state or they can be filled in with bold colored enamel paint
which greatly enhances the pin design. The pins are then
fired at a low heat to seal the colors and give the pin a
luster appearance.
High polished lapel pins do not have their recesses filled
with enamel paints. The recessed areas of the pin have a matt
finish and the raised areas, a highly polished look. These
pins are of extremely high quality with gold on gold, silver
on silver and antique bronze as possible finishes.

Bolder designs are recommended to prevent any unsatisfactory
coloring caused by lines and figures that are too thin or too
small.
Enamel coloring requires a surrounding metal rim (0.3mm
minimum) to ensure good quality painting results.
Iron material can be used instead of copper; however, its
surface can not be polished as it is a lesser quality metal.
